The journey of building institutions that serve both society and science is never defined by scale alone, but by purpose. The Datta Meghe Institute for Higher Education and Research (DMIHER), started in the 1990s, is one such institution founded on a bold vision — to bring accessible, affordable and advanced healthcare to the doorsteps of marginalized and underserved communities.
What began as a standalone medical school has evolved, through sustained commitment and steadfast leadership, into a vibrant, multidisciplinary academic hub where research is not ancillary but foundational to learning and practice. The university’s founder, Shri Datta Meghe ji, was a visionary whose dedication towards expanding access to quality higher education has empowered generations of students across the country.
Today, DMIHER offers diverse healthcare-oriented programs, distinguished by institutional excellence and growing global recognition in research and innovation. Its prowess is already substantiated by the accreditation with NAAC A++, with CGPA 3.78 that is highest in Health Sciences and consistent in top 100 Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). It stands not merely as a higher education institution of repute but as a transformative force shaping the future of healthcare and education by empowering competent, future-ready professionals who can anticipate change, respond effectively and deliver innovative solutions for complex healthcare challenges.
I am deeply humbled to serve this great institution as the Chancellor and to carry forward its legacy with utmost respect and responsibility. I envision DMIHER to evolve into a university where medicine seamlessly converges with technology, data science, public policy and human values, achieved through outcome-based education and continuous curricular innovation.
For us, excellence is not a destination, but the starting point. In India’s dynamic and interconnected landscape, we are committed to position DMIHER at the forefront of shaping the future of integrated, resilient healthcare — where research is not an isolated endeavour, but the very foundation of education, clinical excellence and societal transformation. Our strategic direction is anchored in building an advanced interdisciplinary clinical ecosystem, leveraging AI-driven diagnostics and decision-making, strengthening evidence-based precision medicine and embracing the ‘One Health’ approach to define the next frontier in care globally.
